Interceptors - Oil / Petrol
Generally interceptor systems are used for:
- To treat waste water (trade effluent) from industrial processes, vehicle washing, cleansing of oil covered parts or other sources e.g. petrol station forecourts;
- To treat oil contaminated rainwater (run-off) from impervious areas, e.g. car parks, roads, factory yard areas;
- To retain any spillage, accidental or otherwise, of light liquids or oil/petrol and to protect the surrounding area

Interceptor Classes
- Class 1: Coalescing interceptors are designed to achieve a concentration of less than 5 mg/l of oil under standard test conditions. They are used to remove very small oil droplets such as those arising from car-park run-off. Class 1 interceptors discharge directly into a storm water tank.
- Class 2: Gravity interceptors are designed to achieve a concentration of less than 100 mg/l of oil under standard test conditions. They are used where a lower quality requirement applies or for trapping spillages. Class 2 interceptors discharge directly into a foul drain which in turn drains into a sewage treatment plant
Molloy Precast Ltd. supply 3 types of interceptors according to the class required. These are Full Retention, Bypass and Forecourt Interceptors.
